Hello, my wonderful clients. I am so grateful for you, always.
Fall is here, and I had big plans for it. What’s that expression? “Make plans and G-d laughs?”
Here I was, having a busy summer with my family, finally feeling like myself again. In September my youngest would start kindergarten and I would be FREE! After years of having kids at home and having to fit my business goals around nap times and other people’s schedules, my time was going to be my own again (at least for six hours a day).
Then the sickness hit. We all had a very bad virus in mid-September and for me, it turned into pneumonia that has lasted over 4 weeks! (insert face palm emoji…)
Thankfully I’m starting to feel a lot better, but once again, I had lessons to learn. The truth is, the reason I teach getting out of hustle mode is because I NEED to remind MYSELF. My default mode when I have “down time” is to fill it. To “do.” To get busy getting busy. This illness reminded me that my business and my goals aren’t going anywhere, and I needed to get clear on a few things before really getting started.
I love listening to podcasts. I always find them entertaining and enlightening. This one from Oprah and Simon Sinek really spoke to me. In it, Simon goes through an exercise where he has someone think back to both their happiest childhood memory and a moment they felt the most aligned in their work. I highly recommend having a listen and doing this yourself. Often, we are so busy going through the motions in our lives and businesses that we forget what our true purpose is. I’d love to hear your thoughts and all about your WHY.
