Our kids are often our greatest teachers. I know mine are.
The other day, my almost 3 year old made me laugh, and then…she made me think. As almost-3 year-olds do, she said something hilarious, so I laughed and said, “You’re so funny.”
Her reply made me laugh even more. She responded with, “I am. I am funny.”
Then we took it further. “Melody, you’re so cute.”
“I am.”
“You’re so sweet.”
“I am.”
“You’re so smart.”
“I am.”
How many times do people compliment us and we brush them off? Instead of receiving the compliment and thanking them, or G-d forbid, agreeing with them, we belittle ourselves, OR, give a compliment back.
A lot of what I do in my work is teaching people how to receive. The feminine energy is one of receptivity and ALLOWING. One of the biggest ways we block the flow of abundance is by blocking compliments. It’s conditioned in us by society as we get older, but my little girl made me realize, this is not innate. It is innate to receive.
So, the next time someone pays you a compliment (there’s that reference to receiving abundance again), be like my preschooler. Be bold. Be audacious, and reply. “I am.”
